Ms. Phillips is a results-oriented professional with 20+ years’ experience in Claims Management, recognized for taking a leadership role in support of top management. Has a proven and verifiable record for creativity and risk-taking abilities to develop and implement workers’ compensation claims management strategies in the best interest of the company. Possess excellent communication skills proven in motivating people to achieve maximum results. Additionally, has designed and serves as trainer of the return to work process of management level employees of one of the largest Automotive Conglomerates in the U.S.
In 2007, Ms. Phillips used her skills and knowledge to design, write and implement a return to work program for a large Automotive Conglomerate in the U.S. Her claims management skills include cover sight of adjusters and their day-to-day claims activity, conducting file reviews, development of strategic plans of action, and using mediation skills and education to resolve claims and employment matters through the mediation process. Ms. Phillips’ Management and Communication style is instrumental in reduction in claims cost, premiums, and resolutions whether in the claims environment of mediation, settlement arena.
Ms. Phillips provides oversight of adjusters, is a key decision-maker on set up of claims (i.e., medical only versus enhanced medical), assist in conducting investigations on alleged claims, plays an integral role in communication with medical providers, attorneys, private investigators and nurse case managers. She is responsible for promoting and monitoring the company’s modified duty program where she encourages medical providers to return injured workers to work (restricted duty) when applicable. Ms. Philips serves as liaison between injured worker, management, site management, adjuster, attorneys and medical providers; maintaining advocacy balance.
Ms. Phillips is a writer with published work in the National Association of Poetry “Days of Futures Past” (1988). Ms. Phillips has worked diligently with college students at churches in Houston, Texas where she wrote and implemented a College Ministry Program assisting college students’ discover their passion, resolve their disputes, maneuver through the collegiant maze, by developing time-management and other skills preparing them to enter Corporate America.
Ms. Phillips holds a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Houston; Masters in Conflict Resolution and Reconciliation from Abilene Christian University, is a licensed All-Lines Adjuster, holds a Paralegal Certificate and has obtained her certification in 40-Hour Basic Mediation with an advanced certification in Marital Disputes, and Certification in Child Protective Services. She has used her mediation skills and knowledge to reduce settlement cost and obtain favorable settlements for employers. Served as employer representative in St. Croix, Virgin Island for Engineering, Procurement and Construction Organization.
